Professeur à l’ENAP depuis 2015, David Talbot est professeur titulaire en gestion durable et responsable. Il est notamment chercheur associé à la Chaire de recherche du Canada sur l’internalisation du développement durable et la responsabilisation des entreprises de l'Université Laval, chercheur au Centre interuniversitaire de recherche en analyse des organisations (CIRANO) et membre du Réseau québécois de recherche en économie circulaire (RRECQ). Il a occupé la fonction de directeur du doctorat et de la formation à la recherche et a contribué à la création et à l’enseignement des premiers cours de l’ENAP portant sur les enjeux environnementaux propres à l’administration publique.
Il a participé à l’encadrement de plus de 75 étudiantes, étudiants et stagiaires postdoctoraux et a publié plus de 50 articles dans des revues scientifiques avec comité de lecture. Ses travaux actuels portent notamment sur la carboneutralité des villes, l’intégration du développement durable dans les mécanismes de gouvernance publique, ainsi que l’évaluation des pratiques et des mécanismes de reddition de comptes.
